Jo Reimer looks for every avenue to express herself artistically. The act of painting is for Jo an almost addictive form of meditation that brings peace into her life.

Jo began her training with drawing classes in the early 80's. Her first foray into painting started with fabric; she painted “wearable art” as well as art for the home. She was encouraged by her peers to paint on canvas and after exploring many mediums she discovered oils.

Jo enjoys using oil for its flow, colour and depth. She is drawn to the canvas by the endless possibilities of movement and the interplay of colour and light. Faces and figures have become main elements in many of her paintings; she is intrigued by their endless expressivity. Be it whimsical, vibrant, meditative or thoughtful, Jo always strives to convey a mood in her paintings.

Having recently rediscovered her love of figure drawing, Jo is exploring new directions in the style of her work. She is excited to expand on these ideas as she further develops and refines her artistic voice. Jo values the incredible opportunity of having been mentored by Helen Hadala, Chris Jordan, Doug Swinton, Holly McWilliams and Jack Rigaux. She is also inspired by her fellow students in the pursuit of art and creativity.
